A cosmetic skin consultation helps you choose a treatment and discuss everyday skincare. It starts with your routine and an observation of your skin. It is not a dermatology appointment: a concern about a skin condition or lesion belongs with a medical professional.
What to bring to your first visit
Make a short list of the products you use morning and evening, including cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen and occasional exfoliants. There is no need to buy anything before the appointment. Note the textures you enjoy, products you have stopped using and anything that makes your routine difficult to follow.
Tell us about recent treatments and what you would like to understand. You might be deciding between a cleansing treatment and another facial, or simply hoping to make home care easier. A specific question gives the conversation a useful starting point.
Understand the routine before adding to it
The American Academy of Dermatology describes a simple foundation: cleansing, moisturising and sun protection. Too many products can cause irritation. We therefore start by discussing what you already use, rather than assuming every step needs another purchase.
Questions worth asking
- What is the proposed service for, and what happens during it?
- Why is it relevant to my request?
- How much time should I allow?
- What preparation and aftercare instructions will I receive?
- What is the confirmed price, and what does it include?
If you are considering several appointments, ask how the next steps will be discussed. You should understand a proposal before you confirm it.
