Skin analysis: why it's the first step for tailored results

Every skin is different. What works for one person can be ineffective or harmful for another. Just as a tailor does not sew a suit without taking measurements, an aesthetic treatment cannot skip a thorough assessment of the skin. The bespoke method at Oliviér Estetica Sartoriale places skin analysis at the centre of every journey, for safety, effectiveness and truly personalised results.

Why preliminary analysis is essential

Many centres apply standard protocols without considering individual skin characteristics. A one-size-fits-all approach not only reduces effectiveness but can cause irritation, burns or pigmentation changes.

Accurate analysis allows you to:

  • Identify phototype and reactivity to light
  • Assess hydration and elasticity
  • Detect contraindications or dermatological conditions
  • Personalise parameters and technologies
  • Set realistic expectations and timelines

Without this diagnostic phase, you are relying on chance.

What we assess during analysis

Phototype and chromatic characteristics

We use the Fitzpatrick scale (I to VI) to classify melanin levels and sun response. This parameter is crucial for calibrating safety and effectiveness in treatments such as laser hair removal.

Hydration and sebum status

Skin can be dehydrated, oily, combination or sensitive. This assessment guides treatment preparation and daily skincare advice.

Elasticity and firmness

We evaluate the degree of laxity and the state of collagen and elastin, which determines the choice of anti-age or remodelling technologies.

Dermatological conditions

We check for scars, hyper- or hypopigmentation, couperose or rosacea, active folliculitis, dermatitis or eczema. Their presence may modify the protocol or require a preparatory phase.

Technologies of the bespoke method

At the atelier, analysis is not limited to observation. We use advanced equipment for objective, quantifiable diagnosis: Wood's lamp, digital analysers and standardised photographic documentation.

From data to strategy

Analysis is the starting point. Data is used to define a personalised action plan: laser parameters, combined protocols for the face, and continuous monitoring throughout the journey.

What to expect from your first consultation
